Hullo Hype Squad! We’re Going to try something new this week. So if you like it let me know and if you don’t also let me know, all conversations are good conversations. I want this to be a true variety shop of Scottish women’s football content and I’m hoping to start getting some interviews winging your way into your mailboxes in the weeks to come. So if you are seeing this and aren’t subscribed now is the time to batter in!

For now though this is the first ever edition of the whiste stop tour of Scottish women’s football. There’s SWPL Goal Stuff and Non Goal Stuff. A top of the table clash in the SWF Championship. A big dollop of Mon eh Young Team. SWNT Down South and SWNT Worldwide.

Blockbuster eh? You ready? Good! THEN. HERE. WE. GO!

SWPL GOAL STUFF

  • Kirsty Howat and Rio Hardy moved to a collective total of 25 goals for the season as Rangers completed a 7-0 victory over Hibernian with Howat scoring four to move onto twelve league goals for the season. The strike duo have contributed ten assists this term too, often for each other, but their prowess will be put to the ultimate test against league leaders Celtic next Sunday.

  • We all know about Caitlin Hayes’ bullet headers but this season it is Chloe Craig leading from the back, the defender scored her eighth league goal of the season as Celtic made it ten wins from ten courtesy of a 3-0 win over Partick Thistle. Only recently capped Scotland international Amy Gallacher has scored more for Fran Alonso’s side this season.

  • Two years of injuries were finally put to rest for Motherwell midfielder Laura McCartney who’s strike from range was the pick of the goals as her side picked up a 6-0 win over Dundee United at K-Park. The 20-year-old signed permanently for Paul Brownlie’s side despite not making a single appearance during a two year loan spell. The collective delight for everyone associated with Motherwell was clear to see after her effort smashed into the top corner.

  • Hearts got a much needed shot in the arm courtesy of a last Sade Adamolekun double. The first of which was a beauty from range, the second of which left Spartans boss Debbi McCulloch unhappy with the decision not to flag the Jamaican offside. A goal that saw Hearts turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 victory that looked unlikely with 78 minutes played.

  • Hannah Stewart’s goal just after half time gave Aberdeen a shock 2-1 lead over Glasgow City at Balmoral Stadium. Unfortunately for Clint Lancaster’s side it would be a lead that would evaporate in the blink of an eye as Brena Lovera and Kinga Kozak would dig out a win for the visitors in the space of sixty seconds.

  • Hamilton Accies and Montrose shared the points but it could have been much different had Aimee Ridgeway’s powerful penalty in the final seconds of the game managed to tuck itself under the bar instead of over it. It’s a point that keeps Accies in touch at the bottom and helps Montrose build on recent momentum ahead of their visit to Glasgow City next weekend.

  • Ellie Kane scored a double (again!) as Queen’s Park returned to the top of the SWPL2 table courtesy of a 3-0 victory away to Boroughmuir Thistle. It took the Spiders captain to thirteen goals for the league campaign. Keeping the Queen’s captain on course for her most prolific career to date.
